A healthcare move is rarely just a move.
You may be choosing a house while credentialing is still pending. Your start date may move. Your spouse may still be job hunting. You may be trying to understand a commute you have never driven before sunrise.
My pharmacy career in Dublin started at the Carl Vinson VA Medical Center in 2013. I now work as a clinical pharmacist at the VA, and my husband is a local physical therapist. Healthcare knows healthcare: the schedule matters, the logistics matter, and “close” can mean something very different after a long shift.
Start with where you work, then map the rest of the week.
Fairview Park Hospital is at 200 Industrial Boulevard. The Carl Vinson VA Medical Center is at 1826 Veterans Boulevard. Medical Center, LLP is at 908 Hillcrest Parkway.
In Dublin, most of the neighborhoods a healthcare professional would reasonably consider are still relatively close to the major medical employers. The bigger question is usually not “Which neighborhood gives me the only workable commute?” It is “Which location makes the whole household run more smoothly?”
Start with your work address, then layer in your spouse’s route, school or childcare, church, groceries, activities, family, and the places you will actually repeat every week. If you take call or work long shifts, shaving a few minutes off the drive can still matter, but it does not have to be the only thing driving the search.
Healthcare knows healthcare. Your housing plan should make the workweek easier, not give you one more thing to manage.
Compare the neighborhoods by the details that actually change.
The Cottages at Fairview sits just behind the Fairview medical area. It is a smaller, lower-maintenance subdivision where lawn care has been included through the association. Verify current association terms for the specific property.
Earlwood and Fairfield are established residential pockets with larger single-family homes and a range of lot sizes. Exact age, acreage, and condition vary by address, so compare the actual property rather than relying on the neighborhood name.
Moore Station Village offers a more planned, lower-maintenance setting with HOA lawn care and amenities that include a clubhouse, pool, fitness center, walking trails, and fishing ponds. Westchester and Fox Ridge offer different residential settings, and Fox Ridge includes more than one housing type. Pay attention to the specific section, property type, lot, and association terms rather than assuming the whole neighborhood lives the same way.
Those are starting points, not rankings. Price, condition, school assignment, utilities, HOA rules, and the exact property can matter more than the neighborhood name by itself.
Give yourself permission to land softly.
Credentialing dates move. Contracts change. A travel assignment can become permanent. A permanent role can begin before a home is ready to close.
A short-term or furnished rental can give you time to learn the town before you make a larger decision.
Premier Properties of Dublin, LLC handles residential, commercial, and executive rentals, and the property-management team can help you check what is available for your dates.
Choose a house that still works when you are tired.
This is where practical details matter.
A garage or covered parking may feel different after a late shift in bad weather. Reliable internet may matter for charting, telehealth, continuing education, or a spouse working remotely. A fenced yard may save time if you have pets. Low-maintenance landscaping may be worth more than a larger yard if your schedule changes every week.
Then there are utilities, storage, furniture timing, and whether you are taking on well, septic, or other systems you do not want to learn in the middle of onboarding.
If family is moving too, map the whole household.
Your commute may be easy while school drop-off, childcare, or your spouse’s route becomes the harder part.
The best location is often the one that makes the whole household run more smoothly, not simply the one closest to your badge swipe.
Plan the first month before the perfect house.
Think through the unglamorous pieces before moving day: where you will stay if closing shifts, when utilities turn on, whether furniture arrives later, who can meet a delivery while you are at work, how pets will be handled, and what happens if your start date changes.
A healthcare relocation feels lighter when the logistics have somewhere to land.
Whether you are coming to the VA, Fairview Park Hospital, Medical Center, LLP, or another local healthcare role, I can help you compare the areas around your work and think through the housing side of the move. If you need a rental or furnished executive option first, Premier Properties of Dublin, LLC can help you check current availability.
